Monitoring Disk (and Application) Status?

The Question is:

 
i want to monitor the recording process & mounting status of disks where
 recording of data is taking place in VAX server ( used for radar data
 processing system). if anything goes wrong system should beep continuously.
 How to configure for this?

The Answer is :

 
  Consider writing some DCL, using available lexical functions
  such as f$getdvi, and commands such as WAIT and GOTO.
