The Question is:
We are running advanced server 7.3 on OpenVms 7.3 and are migrating to active
directories from NT4 domains. We are also using the external authentication
on OpenVMS user accounts. Is there anything we should be aware of prior to
making the jump, eg upgr
ades. To ensure that user authentication was quick, we have configured Advanced
Server as a backup domain controller, should we be configuring it as a member
instead, or will we be able to continue to run it as a BDC.
Many thanks in advance,
Maurice
The Answer is :
You will need to upgrade to a minimum of Advanced Server V7.3A. You
will then want to apply the current ECO kit, ECO2 as of this writing.
The Backup Domain Controller (BDC) role does not exist in an Active
Directory configuration. You will need to change the role of your
server to that of a Member Server.
