The Question is:
I need to install a DS20E with 6 internals 36 Gb disk drives. And the O.S.
version must be 7.1-2.
There is a SCSI raid card for this configuration? Witch one?
The Answer is :
OpenVMS supports various RAID controllers, as well as host-based RAID.
For information on hardware platforms and available hardware options
and the associated support, please see the AlphaServer website, and
the supported options information and QuickSpecs available there.
For pointers to the AlphaServer website and the associated platform
and option QuickSpecs, please see the OpenVMS FAQ.
OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 has not been supported for some time. The
OpenVMS Wizard would recommend moving to a release with Prior
Version Support (PVS) or Current Version Support. For information
on PVS, please see the pointers in the OpenVMS FAQ. (The use of
such an old and unsupported OpenVMS version will be one of the
biggest single problems you will have to navigate in choosing from
the available RAID controller options.)
The KZPAC series would be one of the more obvious choices, and is
supported on V7.1-2, with then-current ECO kits installed -- there
are various other StorageArray configurations that are also
supported, of course.
