The Question is:
I am trying to connect a HP Laserjet that has the HP jetdirect connectivity
card for serial connections. There was a compaq line printer in the port
before. I have configured the card correctly. I believe it is cabled
correctlty, i have a 25db pin fema
le connected to an adapter to go the 9db printer port. What more needs to be
done.
The Answer is :
If you have had a printer on the port and it was working and the
new configuration is not working, then the cable is wrong or the
new printer is misconfigured or has failed. (Though less likely,
it is also possible that there is another problem that has been
introduced into the configuration as part of the printer swap.)
Please realize that various of the external JetDirect devices
assume parallel printer connections, and nine-pin (DB9) connectors
tend to imply serial printing.
Please contact your hardware services organization for assistance
in configuring your hardware -- this appears to be a hardware issue,
and does not appear to be an OpenVMS problem.
