Random AlphaServer Reboots?

» close window

The Question is:

I have an ES-40 computer running OpenVMS V 7.1.2. Recently I have experienced
this strange problem of computer rebooting by itself. It happened during
processing and non-processsing. could it have anything to do with the
 powersave at all?

Do you have any ideas what caused it and how to fix this kind of problems?
Thank you

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume this is an AlphaServer ES40 system
running OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 -- the description of the failure tends
to imply a hardware problem, a power problem, or a low-level software
problem. (This is not a powersave feature, at least not by that name.)

Please contact your hardware service organization as a start -- you
should expect to be asked for some details of what happens when the
system reboots, and any messages that might appear on the console
  or in the error log.
