The Question is:
Trying to send mail from the Vax to a pager system.
The email address is 8433172472@page.metrocall.com
It works fine from outlook, but the vax gives this error
550 %UCX-E-SMTP_NOSUCHUSER, No such user, 8433172472@PAGE.METROCALL.COM
8433172472@PAGE.METROCALL.COM (bounced)
The Answer is :
Please contact the paging provider for assistance and for
the expected username and email address specification, as
the error message being retured to OpenVMS from the remote
provider's SMTP server indicates an error in the user
specification. (Based on what was provided, it appears
that the OpenVMS system has connectivity to the provider,
but this can be verified in the headers of the bounced
SMTO message.) OpenVMS then returns this error to you.
Your OpenVMS VAX version and your TCP/IP Services versions
are very old, and in need of an upgrade to a more recent
version. As of this writing, OpenVMS VAX V7.3 and TCP/IP
Services V5.3 (with their respective ECOs) are current.
