CI Cluster with no SC008 Star Coupler?

The Question is:

 
 
  I have a standalone system which includes a
  6640 , an hsc70 and storage cabinet with
  ra73 disks. Is it possible to use the disks
  with the hsc without having to go thru a
  star coupler ?

The Answer is :

 
  No.
 
  Use of a SC-series Star Coupler is required for CI signal
  integrity and proper CI operations -- among functions
  including isolation, the coupler provides the necessary
  signal attenuation.  Direct connections between CI host
  controllers and storage controllers is not supported and
  not reliable and not recommended.
