The Question is:
Is it possible to configure a VT510 terminal to connect directly into a network
switch?
The Answer is :
Yes, you can connect most any serial terminal using a terminal
server -- a terminal server is a form of a NIC, and specifically
intended to allow a serial terminal to connect to most any host
system using IP or (often) LAT network protocols. Both single-
and multi-port terminal terminal servers are available from a
variety of sources.
The VT510 series does not include an integrated NIC; comparatively
few serial terminals have incorporated a NIC into the terminal
hardware.
X Terminals and host systems running terminal emulators are
all obvious alternatives.
