The Question is:

 
What are the power requirements for an AlphaServer 800 when planning a UPS?  Is
 there any software available for OpenVMS (eg PowerChute) that will provide
 autoshutdown if power is transfered to UPS?
 

The Answer is :

 
  The first part of the question is answered in the Systems and Options
  Catalog (SOC) for older systems -- see the OpenVMS FAQ for pointers to
  the SOC archives -- and in the QuickSpecs for new or recently-retired
  systems.  The QuickSpecs for newer AlphaServer systems (current and
  retired) are available from the AlphaServer website.
 
  The brute-force approach involves examining and totalling the wattage
  ratings of the various power supplies involved, of course.
