Is the Queue Manager Running?

The Question is:

 
I am getting ready to setup DSNLink 3.0 and one of the pre-requisites is that
 queue manager needs to be running. How do I know if it is running or not? If
 it is not, how do I get it to run?

  up and running the queue manager.  The commands most commonly involved
  are documented in various materials, including:
 
    $ HELP SHOW QUEUE
