symbol works. I want to put different levels of error handling into a DCL
batch procedure.

Please see the OpenVMS User's Manual for an introduction to programming
with DCL, and please see the information on the ON and SET NOON commands
in the User's Manual and the DCL Dictionary manual, and please also see
the $SEVERITY symbol.
