Help Debugging Serial Printer Connection?

The Question is:

 
a) Can this printer support serial port?
b) What other files should I change in the OS?
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  Please reverse the process -- please connect a serial terminal or a
  terminal emulator to the designated serial port, and (attempt to) log
  into OpenVMS using the serial port.  Please verify that the wiring is
  valid, and that the device -- the terminal, in this case -- and the
  port and the connection are all functional.  Then and only then start
  debugging a connection to a printer.
 
  Please see the OpenVMS FAQ for details on the wiring pinouts involved.
  Please also see the FAQ for details on the serial port configurations
  typically found on various AlphaServer and AlphaStation systems.
 
  Please move off this hardware release, and please move to a supported
  maintenance release or full OpenVMS release, such as V7.2-2 or V7.3.
