MONITOR CLUSTER hangs system?

The Question is:

 
When we try and use the MON CLU command on our Alpha cluster the latency of the
 screen is in minutes and the refresh takes at least 45 seconds. How can we fix
 this, we have also hung the system by using mon states_all. HELP!
