The Question is:
Why does the TZ-87 tape drive disappear after booting the OS?
What are the possible solutions to this problem?
The Answer is :
The list of errors that can potentially arise within a SCSI
hardware configuration is arguably an open-ended set.
Assuming you have not disabled the device autoconfiguration
normally performed during the OpenVMS bootstrap, please contact
your hardware support organization for assistance with the TZ87,
as it appears that you have a SCSI device error or a SCSI bus
configuration error. Additional details on the particular SCSI
hardware connection(s), controller(s), and the contents of the
SCSI bus will be of all interest, as well. As will the total
SCSI bus length, enclosures, bus termination, assigned unit
numbers, firmware revisions, and other related details.
Please also apply the available ECO kits for OpenVMS Alpha, and
please seriously consider an upgrade to a more recent version.
