Hi,
I've already been through the FAQ. Can you please tell me if the upgrade to
7.2-1h1 from 7.2-1 can be downloaded or do I have to contact my Sales Rep ?

The Answer is :
OpenVMS and layered product software kits are not generally available
for anonymous download, and must be ordered from your Compaq reseller
or Compaq representative. CD-ROM kit part numbers for various recent
OpenVMS releases are in the OpenVMS Software Product Description (SPD)
and various hardware and maintenance release media kit part numbers are
also in the OpenVMS FAQ.
For information on the upgrade itself, please see the OpenVMS V7.2-2
release documentation, and particularly the OpenVMS installation and
upgrade documentation for the release.
Use of V7.2-2 and V7.3 and (as available) later releases are recommended
over the installation of a hardware release such as V7.2-1H1 -- the
OpenVMS hardware releases are intended only for initial and temporary
use and only on specific hardware platforms or configurations, and only
prior to the availability of a non-hardware OpenVMS release with support
for the particular hardware configuration. (Please see the OpenVMS FAQ
for general information on the OpenVMS release terminology.)
OpenVMS V7.2-1H1 was replaced by V7.2-2, and the OpenVMS Wizard cannot
and does not recommend new installations of the V7.2-1H1 release.
If you must install an older (hardware) release, then you will want to
review the installation and upgrade documentation for the release, and
the new features and release notes documentation for the release.
(In the case of hardware releases, this documentation can be combined
into a single manual.)

the FAQ for details of the support lifetimes and PVS plans for various
OpenVMS releases. Please also see the FAQ for pointers to the website
