Recovering from invalid system parameter?

» close window

The Question is:

I typed "MAX" in mistake; it supposed to be "min"; but I overlooked it and
tried to re-boot the system, and got its hung-up. How I recover from that
 error. Thanks.

The Answer is :

Halt. Reboot conversationally. Reset to the appropriate value.

Please see the OpenVMS FAQ for an example of the conversational
bootstrap, and particularly also see the use made of the system
parameter WRITESYSPARAMS setting -- by using this parameter to
disable writing the system parameters, you can have a one-shot
alteration of one or more parameters.
