Size (Length) Limit of Username?

The Question is:

 
What is the maximum number of characters allowed in a user ID? Are there plans
 to increase this in future releases?
 

The Answer is :

 
  The native OpenVMS username is limited to 12 (though the internal fields
  are 32 characters), and the OpenVMS Wizard is presently aware of no plans
  to increase the size from 12 characters due to the impact this change would
  have on various applications.  That said, the OpenVMS Wizard would code new
  applications and would update existing applications (as feasible) to assume
  a maximum username length of at least 32 characters.
