The Question is:
I am getting ready to upgrade the Hard Drives in my MICRO-VAX 3100-80 from
RX25's to RZ29's. I would like to do this by installing one of the new drives
as a 3rd drive in the system and copy the primary disk to the new disk. Then
swap out the primary RZ
25 with the new RZ29 I just copied to. Then do the same thing with the second
disk. Is this possible and how would I do it (ie commands). Any precautions
other than a couple good back-ups prior to starting?
The Answer is :
Please contact your hardware support organization for assistance.
Assuming sufficient cooling is available for the RZ29 series in
its particular storage enclosure, and assuming you can keep the
SCSI bus sufficiently short and correctly terminated, what you
propose should work.
Failures due to insufficient cooling tend to be delayed.
The command(s) involved are BACKUP. Please read the available
BACKUP documentation (in the OpenVMS System Manager's manual) for
details on performing a disk-to-disk BACKUP of your system disk.
