Volume Shadowing and Disk Device Names?

» close window

The Question is:

DEVICE SHARING
I have an Alpha 8200 system and a DS20, we want to share a solid state disks
(shadowed) directly connected to the 8200. We plan to use a Y-Cable to dual
connect the disk, but also want to shadow the disk.

My problem is that the physical device names will be different on teh two
machines. Providing we mount the volume /SYSTEM will shadowing work (and be
supported)or do the physical disks names have to be the same?

The Answer is :

Volume shadowing requires disk devices with the same name (and same
allocation class) to be the same device, and requires disk devices with
the same name (within the same allocation class) to be the same device.
