DECwindows Fonts, BDF Conversions?

» close window

The Question is:

I need to edit some characters in several
existing fonts on a vms7.1 system. Are there
any utilities to enable me to do this? The
fonts are all in PCF format. If I could
convert the fonts to BDF format I could then
copy them to my Linux box where I have a BDF
editor.

The Answer is :

DECwindows also provides the FONT converter verb, and FONT operates with
the BDF, PCF, and SNF font formats.

You will particularly want to review the available Managing DECwindows
Motif for OpenVMS Systems manual, a manual that is part of the OpenVMS
DECwindows documentation set. (Please see the OpenVMS FAQ for pointers.)

Font editors are available for OpenVMS, and graphics editing tools such
as ImageMagik are also available -- various X Windows font editors should
  operate.

  Fonts are regularly copyrighted materials.
