The Question is:
Mr. Wizard: We would like to upgrade the memory in our DEC Personal
Workstation 433au. Many sources indicate that this system supports up to 1.5
GB of memory. However, the Compaq/DEC System and Options catalog from Jan
2000 says that memory for this sy
stem is limited to 1 GB under VMS (1.5 GB is supported under Windows NT and
Unix). Is 1.0 GB really the limit under VMS, or has this limit been removed
with recent VMS versions?
The Answer is :
In general, OpenVMS will support the maximum memory that the Alpha
box will itself support.
OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 is very old, and does not have support for the
-au series, you will want to use V7.1-2, V7.2-1, or V7.3 or later.
