The Question is:
Hi,
i would like to download a free VMS version for x86-CPU`s to learn something
about it. is it possible to find a free version on your webside ?
at the moment i am a global network administrator for ms and sun solaris and i
am not happy with ms products, so i will complete my administration package
with the grandfather of the os`s.
it isn`t a problem for me to pay a fee of
30-50 $ for that, but i think by myself that you need a lot of people which
forward the real os`s and forward you customer relationships.
thanks in advance for the answere

The Answer is :
For formal loan-of-products and product evaluation requests,
please contact Compaq or your local Compaq reseller.
Rather than the PC-based approach you are considering, consider
signing up for one of the "public" or evaluation OpenVMS systems;
systems that are referenced in the OpenVMS FAQ.
For information on obtaining the hobbyist version and hobbyist
OpenVMS licenses, please see the OpenVMS FAQ.
OpenVMS itself operates only on Alpha and VAX platforms. There
is no Intel IA32-native version of OpenVMS, and there are no
plans to create one. There are third-party emulator packages,
packages which emulate a VAX platform using an Intel IA-32-class
and/or an Alpha-class system.
