The Question is:
Can you please explain what is the meaning of the following messages when a
tape is being restored to a disk using the following command?
$ backup/log/image/rew/ign=lab mkb600:auc1sys.sav/sav $1$dka200:
Error messages occurs nearing the end of the backup process:
Backup-E-readerrs,
excessive data rate reading mkb600:auc1sys.sav;
System-F-parity, Parity error
What should be done to solve this?
The Answer is :
The error messages should be self-explanatory, there were too
many read errors, and specifically too many parity errors, and
attempts to read the saveset are unsuccessful. Assuming that
use of the cleaning cartridge -- if applicable to the particular
and unspecified tape drive involved here -- has been attempted,
and assuming that this problem is reproducable when new and
known-good storage media is utilized, please contact your hardware
service organization. This could be the tape drive or the media,
or a problem with other hardware (I/O adapter, SCSI length, SCSI
termination, host CPU, etc) relevent to the I/O activity.
