The Question is:
I need to connect a sortation device which sends out ascii txt, directly into
the back of an Alpha 2100. I do not want to go via a decserver and lat service
to perform this.
I can plug it into the TXA ports and it becomes TXA3, however as soon as the
device starts sending out data it effectively gets to the login prompt. This
is seen on a show user with the result <LOGIN> TXA3.
Is there anyay I can let a port stay 'logged' into the Alpha or open a port up
permanently so it does not have to go through the login process ?
I have software already written which will read directly from the TXA3 device
to process the incoming data.
The Answer is :
Please see the section of the OpenVMS FAQ entitled "How can I
prevent a serial terminal line from initiating a login?".
