The Question is:
I am trying to connect a PC (Windows NT 4, sp4) to an Alpha DS-20 running
OpenVMS 7.2-1 using TCP/IP over DECnet. Everything is working except I cannot
map a drive to the Alpha server. When I set the domain on the PC I get the
error "The domain controller
for this domain cannot be located". I have gone through the manuals and the
TCP/IP config many times but nothing is obviously (to me anyway) incorrect.
From the PC I can ping the Alpha and transfer files via ftp. But I really want
to map a drive. Do I ma
ke the Alpha the "domain controller" and if so how? Any help would be
appreciated!
configuation:
1 Alpha file server
1 PC
1 Laser printer
1 10baseT hub
PC Windows NT ver 4.0, sp 4
Pathworks 32
Reflection Suite for X
Alpha OpenVMS ver 7.2-1
TCP/IP 5.0A
DECnet plus
Pathworks 6.0B
Pathworks Advanced Server V7.2
The Answer is :
That there is no mention of Advanced Server nor PATHWORKS implies
that neither is configured and running. You will want to avail
yourself of the available Advanced Server documentation, and
pariticularly investigate the operational status of the Advanced
Server software.
You could also use PATHWORKS V6.0B or later, but Advanced Server is
the recommended product.
Failing this investigation, please contact the Compaq Customer
Support Center.
