MRU ROBOT reports tape device unresponsive?

The Question is:

 
After the creation of a robot on an Alha 4100 with the 'mcr sysman io connect
 GKannn: /driver=SYS$GKDRIVER /NOADAPTER the device is on line.
But on installing the MRU software robote01014 the istallation of the software
 failes.
On the ROBOT command I get a failure: 'device not responding'
ROBOT gkc401: is not responding: Robot Illegal request
I don't know what seems the problem

The Answer is :

 
  It would appear that the SCSI configuration, the device configuration,
  or the software has a problem, but the specifics of the problem will
  require research.  Check for a SCSI ID (address) collision, a SCSI
  signal continuity or termination problem, and the other usual sorts
  of SCSI errors that can arise.
