The Question is:
I have an Alpha 1000 with a DEC TLZ09 tape drive. Are DDS-3 and DDS-4
tapes compatible with this drive?
The Answer is :
You will want to use the supported DDS level cartridges, or less.
The tape drive will automatically detect and write the highest
DDS-level density that is supported by the media in use.
You will want to use DDS-2 or DDS-1, in the case of the TLZ09.
For instance, a TLZ09 should be able to read a DDS-2 cartridge
that was written by a TLZ10.
You will not want to use higher level DDS standards or media that
is longer than is supported by the particular drive.
