The Question is:
"How do I reset the version of the DNS$CACHE file ?"
My DNS$CACHE file is at version 22706 and climbing.. When it reaches ;32768 I'm
The increase is slow, and I have some time,
But I would like to get it, Before it gets me !
The Answer is :
DECnet-Plus DNS will wrap the cache file version number for you.
Please remember, you are using OpenVMS...
Based on the creation of a new versions of this cache file once every
thirty minutes (and the automatic clean-up of the older versions), this
version wrapping should occur (automatically) slightly more frequently
than once every two years.
If you really want to shut down, clean up, and then recreate your DNS
cache file, you can use the following commands:
$ MCR NCL DISABLE DNS CLERK
$ MCR NCL ENABLE DNS CLERK
