Floating point format conversion?

The Question is:

 
I want to add an JAVA interface to out existing application. However our
 application is build with the D_FLOAT types and Java users IEEE as float type.
 
Is there some way to convert the formats manually? I assume the acutal data
 between the the modules is transferd but the can't be used because it's in the
 wrong format.
 
I looked in the FAQ file and there is an reference (PROG8) but the link to more
 info seems to be dead.
