The Question is:
I am using UCX 4.0 and have SMTP configured with
NORELAY. However, external tests using URL:
http://www.ja.net/mail/anti-spam/STAN.html#request
show that the system is potentially open to SPAM email being relayed on my
system. Will upgrading to a later version of UCX close these loopholes, or are
there patches that need applying to prevent this?
(The UK academic network now has an active policy of no open relays and my VMS
mail server will be blocked if I cannot
take action to prevent SPAM email.)
The Answer is :
V5.0A and V5.1 have this. The former provides all-or-nothing relay
features, while the latter release provides programmable relay. As
of this writing (December 2000), V5.1 is in field test.
