Increasing the size of a disk?

The Question is:

 
How do I get VMS to see the new free space on an HSG80 drive which has been
 extended using the contact function.
 
For example if I add a second 9 GB disk to an existing logical disk, VMS
 recongises the new total size as 18 GB. However, it still only sees 9 GB of
 free space.
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  OpenVMS does not presently permit the size of a disk to increase
  dynamically.  OpenVMS uses the disk size information provided to
  it by the controller.  As a start, dismount and remount the disk.
  If the disk size does not increase, check the controller storage
  configuration.
