The Question is:
I am running a 2 node cluster with VMS Volume Shadowing. Each CPU has a
separate system disk, but I am storing cluster common files on a shadow set
consisting of two drives. Both drives are accessable to both Alphas.
Whenever I reboot either node, the shadow set goes into a merge operation.
I believe that this is because during shutdown of either of the nodes the
shadow set dismount fails with one file open on the volume.
I have managed to close every file on the shadow set prior to shutdown (other
than indexf.sys) except RIGHTSLIST.DAT which is opened by SECURITY_SERVER.
Is there some way I can force this process to exit or close its files prior to
the dismount?
Is there some way I can issue a dismount after this process has been terminated
in the normal shutdown process?
Jim
The Answer is :
This appears quite similar to a known problem in the OpenVMS shutdown
sequence -- please check for available ECOs, and please contact the
Compaq Customer Support Center. (As a potential work-around, you could
try to shut down the security server to close the channel.)
