DECnet MOP NCP CONNECT differences?

» close window

The Question is:

In NCP, why would a 'connect via circuit-id physical address 08-00...' get me
to my DECServer 200 and a 'conn node nodename' not, despite the correct
information (service circuit, hardware address) being in the NCP database?
 What's the difference?

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard would expect the same behaviour, assuming the same
configuration. Please contact the Customer Support Center -- expect
to be asked for the particular NCP command used and for the particular
  NCP network database entry involved.

LANCP would be an alternative approach, as this mechanism is available
on OpenVMS V6.2 and later regardless of the particular DECnet phase (if
any) that is installed on the system.
