UIS? (VWS vs UIS-Archive)

» close window

The Question is:

Is there a product called UIS for any version of VMS that provides data
archiving capabilities? I would like to have some documentation on its
capabilities.

The Answer is :

The OpenVMS Wizard is familiar with an early windowing system used
for OpenVMS VAX workstations -- the VAX Workstation Software (VWS)
package, a predecessor of DECwindows -- and VWS provided a programming
interface known as UIS. Later versions of VWS (eg V4.3) also provide
an API known as VAXuisx or UISX, an interface that allows various UIS
applications to display on the DECwindows X Windows interface.

  Various VWS/UIS topics include (3183), (4177), (5316), and (9916).

The OpenVMS Wizard is also familiar with a UIS-ARCHIVE package that
was available from a company known as Raxco/UIS.
