Printing a page range?

The Question is:

 
Hi,
 
This is a VAX 7000-640, hardware model type 362  running on VAX/VMS V7.1.
 
We are trying to print a file having say 10 pages selectively by
 PRINT/PAGE=(5,6). But it prints all the ten pages.
 
This behaves the same for both ordinary text files as well as Cobol VFC
 formatted output.
 
How to make it work in both circumstances.

  the file and of the printer and of the particular print symbiont
