Training? (Operator, System Manager)

The Question is:

 
I was offered a position as a VAX VMS operator, however, my knowledge of this
 system is non existant. Can you please give me a slight overview of what this
 system is and what is its primary function.

  What should be ample materials -- OpenVMS documentation, training and
  testing, and Compaq and customer websites -- are listed in the OpenVMS
