The Question is:
On the first logon of the day the system gets a BUGCHECK on running an I/O
bound application and reboots. It is fine after that. The errorlogs show a
CACHE/BUS error (with a Lost Error), followed by a ASYNCWRTER bugcheck.
The software is mature, and the problem has been occuring before 01-JAN-2000.
Running VMS 5.3 on a KA650 processor.
Any help would be appreciated.

It would appear you have a hardware error of some sort with this
system, please contact your hardware support organization for
assistance in resolving the problem.
