Cannot PING the RapidPrint?

» close window

The Question is:

Why can't I ping a RapidPrint 500 from my ALPHA
which is in another subnet? I have set the IPADDRESS, SUBNET MASK and Default
 GATEWAY.

The Answer is :

Either the RapidPrint is not answering the ICMP PING, or the PING is
not getting to the RapidPrint, or the ICMP response is not getting back
to the initiating OpenVMS Alpha system. Obviously.

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume that the OpenVMS system can ping other
hosts -- but specifically try to ping another host in the same target
  subnet as the RapidPrint.

Then move the RapidPrint to the local network segment and try to PING
it. Then, if that works, determine what switches or bridges or routers
lurk in the network configuration. If it doesn't work, look at the
RapidPrint configuration and at the RapidPrint hardware.
