The Question is:
have a Digital Personal Workstation 500a running windows nt... would like to
see if I can run OpenVMS on it... and can't find the difference between the
500a and 500au (which supports vms and unix) other than the graphics
controller (the nt system has a m
atrox while the other systems have the powerstorm).
If this is the only difference, can I replace the graphics controller, transfer
a few vms licenses to it (to get the total up large enough - I have a lot not
in use at this time) and get vms installed?
thanks...
The Answer is :
OpenVMS is not supported on the -a series systems. There are a
variety of different -a series systems around, often with subtle
variations even within a series. Some folks have gotten OpenVMS
to bootstrap (under the hobbyist license), and some have failed.
