The Question is:

 
what alpha systems will support 4 graphic controllers on OpenVMS
 

The Answer is :

 
  Those systems with sufficiently recent versions of OpenVMS and DECwindows,
  and with sufficient free PCI slots available, can operate with up to
  eight heads -- various controllers may or may not have been specifically
  qualified on specific systems.  (Check the QuickSpecs for details.)
 
  Note that versions of the DECwindows CDE interface do not necessarily
  support multi-headed operations, though the DECwindows Motif interface
  does tend to.
