The Question is:
I have just installed a second NIC. I can see the device at the console level
but the second interface does not appear at the system level for configuration.
The Answer is :
If the console cannot see the NIC, then the NIC is not supported, or
the console firmware is below the necessary revision, or the NIC is
not installed in an appropriate slot.
Pointers to the Alpha firmware are available in the OpenVMS FAQ.
Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center, as details of the
second NIC and the console firmware will be required, as well as the
details of the specific Alpha system involved.
An upgrade to OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 or V7.2-1 would be a general
recommendation, though this upgrade will not (directly) alter the
visibility of this NIC device at the console prompt.
