The system I am using is a MicroVAXII running VAX/VMS V5.3-1.
I appreciate any help you can extend.

The Answer is :

Page read errors usually point to hardware or to disk corruptions,
though conceivably some software fault could be involved.
The OpenVMS Wizard would encourage the creation and maintenance of
full standalone BACKUP/IMAGE copies of the system disk and of any
local data disks on the available archival storage media.
The V5.3-1 release was shipped out back in early 1990. For the
information on the available sequences for OpenVMS upgrades to
more recent releases, please see the OpenVMS FAQ.
