The Question is:
The mouse that was shipped with the alphaserver is erratic. Is this a software
problem? If buying a new one will fix the problem please point me in the right
direction.
alphaserver 800 retired system.

The Answer is :
Please contact your hardware support organization.
This can range from a hardware problem in the mouse itself, in the
mouse wiring, or the host controller to a simple case of gunk built
up in the mouse, or a problem with the mouse sensor.
