VAXstation 3100 and Third-Party SCSI?

» close window

The Question is:

VAXStation 3100 Model # VS42S-JF
CPU type KA42A

This system has a 68-pin SCSI connector on the back panel. Can you tell me what
type of SCSI connection this? I assume it is SCSI-2 wide.

I'm trying to connect a non-DEC SCSI drive to this system. Is there a
 limititation on the max capacity?

TIA.

The Answer is :

Please see the OpenVMS FAQ for information on the VAXstation 3100
system disk -- there have been various references to this information
posted here in Ask The Wizard, as well.

The VAXstation 3100 provides the then-current SCSI-1 interface.

Please also see existing discussions around third-party device support
here in Ask The Wizard -- this third-party SCSI device integration and
testing is not something that the OpenVMS Wizard can particularly assist
  with.
