PATHWORKS Printing Character Mapping?

» close window

The Question is:

When printing French accents from VMS to a
PathWorks printer, the wrong characters
appear on the printout. Viewed from EDT,
the ASCII text file is correct.

Does PathWorks require a "setup" for use
with extended character sets?

The Answer is :

The PATHWORKS package itself does not translate characters and does
not particularly care about the contents of the file. Given that
OpenVMS displays this file correctly, this appears to be related to
a difference in the mapping of the character sets between OpenVMS
  and the printer.

Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance.
You will need to identify the particular printer, the PATHWORKS
(or Advanced Server) version, the character(s) involved, and other
  related information.
