The Question is:
We are trying to interface an IBM 9GB SCSI drive (Model: DNES-309170, P/N:
25L1810) with the DSSI bus as found in the R/RDF assembly in the Satellite
Mission Control System (SMCS) of the MILSTAR system, through an HSD-10 card.
The MILSTAR currently uses
Digital R/RF73 drives. The SCSI drives seem to work fine when installed in the
R/RDF (holds four drives), but when a R/RF73 drive is installed in any of the
drive bays, the SCSI drive seems to cause an error on the R/RF73. If we use
about ten feet of ca
ble (as we did during bench testing) to connect the SCSI drive and HSD-10 to
the R/RDF, the error disappears. Or if we attach a cap. on the "DSSI REQ" bus
line, the problem also goes away. We perfer not to have to implement a
hardware work around. Any
suggestions?
The Answer is :
Please see the existing discussions of third-party SCSI hardware.
