The Question is:
My backups are giving me a prompt that says:
%BACKUP-E-FATALERR, fatal error on MKB400:[]DISK0.BCK (THIS IS OBVIOUSLY MY
BACKUP DRIVE
-SYSTEM-F-VOLINV, VOLUME IS NOT SOFTWARE ENABLED
I have reinititalized the backup, reviewed all logs, reviewed the script that
has been running on our vax for the past 3 years, cleaned the backup drive,
changed backup tapes 10 times, and I still can not get past this error to run
a good backup. Can you
point me in any direction that I could review for this?
THanks,
The Answer is :
The initial assumption would be a hardware error, or a failure to
unload and then reload the cassette after a tape has been dismounted
(with /UNLOAD on the DISMOUNT or defaulted from the MOUNT) from
certain types of tape devices -- various cartridge tapes that are
dismounted (with the /UNLOAD option) must be removed from the drive
and then reinserted before they can be remounted, in order to prevent
the contents from being (unintentionally) overwritten.
