The Question is:

Connecting to vms directories from nt without pathworks?
We are currently running Pathworks 5 on Alpha Vms 7.1, with UCX 5.0. We have a
mixture of Windows 95 and NT 4.0 clients. We would like to be able to connect
to VMS directories without having Pathworks loaded on the client. This works
 on the Windows 95 cli
ents but not on the NT workstations. Is it possible to connect to a vms
directory from an nt workstation just through tcp? and if not why does it work
with windows 95? Any help would be appreciated.

The Answer is :

You can configure OpenVMS Advanced Server (PATHWORKS) or SAMBA
to serve specified directories via native Microsoft protocols.
If you choose to use a client, you can use the Microsoft protocols
or you can choose standard IP protocols such as NFS.
