We are moving from a VAX System to an Alpha DS20 running Open VMS 7.2
Can you tell me if Decserver 200 devices will be able to still function on this
new configuration?
The Answer is :
Yes, DECserver devices operate with OpenVMS Alpha. The existing
DECserver 200 download kit may or may not operate (the OpenVMS
Wizard would tend to expect the latter case), but the DECserver
200 download file included within the kit itself -- when the download
file is transfered to an OpenVMS Alpha system and the OpenVMS system
appropriately configured for the download (via DECnet-Plus MOP, via
DECnet Phase IV MOP, or -- the approach usually recommended by the
OpenVMS Wizard -- via LANCP) -- can be downloaded from OpenVMS Alpha
to the DECserver 200. OpenVMS Alpha also provides LAT capabiliies,
permitting users on the DECserver to connect to the OpenVMS Alpha
system.
