PING and ICMP_TYPE in reply?

» close window

The Question is:

I have a question on Ping. I recently asked a question regarding ucx>show
comm/route and the errors I am getting. This question is also related to an IP
change. If I ping to my own net or another net across a T1 I get:
%ucx-I-loopact "xxxxx is alive".
If I try to ping two other nets at our local site I get
:icp>icmp_type (5) !=icmp_echoreply (0)
%ucx -I -loppact, xxxxxx is alive"

What is the ICP line telling me? Do I have some kind of an error? All these
external routes are going through the same router.

The Answer is :

  Your IP network apparently has a network routing, firewall, addressing,
  or DNS configuration problem -- the code in the ICMP response was not
  the expected reply. Check your local host address settings, and then
  contact your network support organization for further assistance.
